Good morning and Welcome to Church!  How will you be challenged today to grow in your walk and relationship with the Lord Jesus?  How will the Holy Spirit challenge you?  And, maybe, just as importantly, how will you challenge yourself?

In the New Testament book of James 1:22-24 it says “Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves.  Do what it says.  Anyone who listens to the word but does not do what it says is like a man, who looks at his face in a mirror and, after looking at himself, goes away and immediately forgets what he looks like.”

One of the reasons that the Christian Church has lost its power and the reason that so many people are choosing to decide that weekly church attendance is not VITAL to helping them make a better life for themselves and for their family, is because many people who attend church services are like the man James describes.  They come and hear the word, but they do not then go and do what it says.  They deceive themselves.  They are hearers of the word but not doers.  They do not put it into action in their own life and therefore their life is not changed.

So, because their lives are not changed, they say that weekly church attendance is not important.  When in reality, it was because they did not put it into action.

And subsequently, then, the people in the world who are looking for life’s answers, who only know these Christian people who are “hearers” of the word and not doers, do not consider church or Jesus to have answers for them, because they’ve not seen it change the Christians that they know.

Here is my promise that I can make to you because I think it is biblical.  If you will put the word into action in your life, daily and weekly, you will be changed and you will create a better life for yourself and for your family.  But you must CHOOSE to be challenged and to change and put the word of God into practice in your life.

All for Jesus,

Pastor Dale
