Good morning and Welcome to Church! Today we have the privilege to participate together in our monthly First Fruits observance and celebration. We will bring our worship to the Lord and then we will partake together in the ordinance of the Lord’s Supper.
As Jesus was entering that final week of His life, on this earth, we find him participating in the preparation of the Passover Feast. The Jewish people had been remembering the Passover as a feast for many years since the Lord had delivered them from the hands of Egyptian captivity by passing over all of them who had covered their door with the blood of the lamb.
And now Jesus was here, preparing to celebrate this very same Passover Feast in remembrance of God’s deliverance from captivity. Who could have known what He knew. In just a few short days He would become our perfect Passover Lamb.
As He sat with the disciples in that upper room, He knew that one of the disciples had already betrayed him. Jesus already knows those who have proclaimed to love Him, but who have in “secret” been betraying Him. Jesus says, …woe to that man who betrays the Son of Man! It would be better for him if he had not been born.
The Bible then tells us that “While they were eating, Jesus took bread, gave thanks and broke it, and gave it to his disciples, saying, “Take and eat; this is my body.” Then he took the cup, gave thanks and offered it to them, saying, “Drink from it, all of you. This is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins…”
Today, we participate together as our Lord has commanded us to do. We remember and we celebrate His love for us through His shed blood on the cross. Bring your worship and your gifts to the Lord today. He will forgive you and receive you. He loves you and He died for you.
Thank you Lord Jesus for loving us and never giving up on us.
All for Jesus,
